These nice little modules have four 14-segment alpha-numeric displays driven by a HT16K33 IC. They are ideal for connecting to microcontrollers via the I2C interface.

Perfect for making digital readouts, clocks or whatever, and these displays can produce both numbers and letters.

Specifications>
Working voltage: 3.3-5V (5V recommended for best brightness)
I2C address: default address 0X70
I2C address calculation: 0X70+A0+A1+A2 (unsoldered is 0, soldered is 1. A0 is 1, A1 is 2, A2 is 4, so for example, soldering A0 and A2 but not A1 means the I2C address = 0X70+1+4=0X75)
Digital tube size: 0.54 inch (approx 14mm)

Pin Description
SCA: Serial clock line
SDA: Serial data line
GND: Supply voltage -
Vcc: Supply voltage +
Vi2c: I2C level control terminal (connect to 3.3V or 5V)

To use these displays with your Arduino, you need the Adafruit_LED_Backpack library or equivalent, as well as the Adafruit-GFX-library and the Adafruit_BusIO_library.

For more info on using these modules, see the January 2024 issue of Silicon Chip magazine and the Adafruit tutorial on using these displays.
